Bravery does not always come in a shiny package with Bold letters. Words and phrases like


Beginning to look, to see the truth of me and you. you've Gotta be brave to see the truth.

Often the feelings that are pulling me to sit down to write a song are neither clear nor easily put to words.


“We are just beginning to look at ourselves, We are just beginning to love ourselves”

Sometimes it feels like the truth will beat me down into a pulp. Being in my feelings seems dangerous but also necessary. The only thing to do is be brave.
We are perfect reflections of each other. How do we adjust so that it is beautiful when we look inward and beautiful when we gaze out.

This wouldn’t be so significant if it was easy to change the title later but it isn’t so the title holds some weight.


so giving the song a title can be a bit of a conundrum.
Because of the way I set up my music situation, when I sit down to make a song the first thing I have to do is title it.

When I title songs, I try to identify something about the moment that is true for me - something that will help me be able to reference the song later. Maybe that is how songs are born.
When I sat down to work this song out, I wanted badly to break free of the bonds of my own enslavement and I knew that it meant I would have to step outside of what was “comfortable” and familiar to me so that I might see more clearly what was actually going on - how I was creating my reality. I named that feeling brave and then worked it out for a bit. I have been working on being brave ever since.
As we put our art and our songs out into the world, may we continue to be true to our deepest heart, our clearest mind, our purest spirit.
